Experience the iconic flavors of Outback Steakhouse with our homemade rendition of Alice Springs Chicken. This recipe proves that culinary greatness doesn’t always require a long list of ingredients. With just a few simple components—boneless chicken breast, gooey cheese, and savory bacon—you can recreate this beloved dish in the comfort of your own kitchen, saving yourself a trip to a fancy restaurant. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 3 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices of thick-cut bacon
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ⅓ cup chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Carefully slice each chicken breast in half lengthwise to create thinner pieces.
  3. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper to your liking, then place them in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  4. While the chicken is cooking, partially cook the bacon until the fat renders but it remains flexible and not yet crispy.
  5. Once the chicken has cooked for 25 minutes, remove it from the oven. Cut each slice of bacon in half and lay the strips on top of each chicken piece.
  6. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. After 10 minutes, remove the chicken again and sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top of each piece.
  8. Place the chicken back in the oven for another 5 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt and become bubbly.
  9. Finally, garnish the chicken with chopped green onions before serving.
